Some hotels announce their presence with long, well-manicured lanes and elaborate signage. Hotel Cap Menorca is much the opposite, looking more like a forgotten private drive than the pathway to a resort. Yet the accommodations at the end, overlooking the Mediterranean, are far from an afterthought. Set on 30 hectares are 15 suites, each with its own garden and private pool along with custom teak and leather furnishings made by local artisans. An on-site restaurant serves lunch by the central saltwater pool and dinner either at a shared table or at the guest's villa, with a seasonal menu focused on fresh ingredients. For active guests, the resort has direct access to the 115-mile Cami de Cavalls hiking path that circles the island, while those looking for a more leisurely experience can rent one of their classic mid-century boats.
